Call for Directors!

Lethbridge Musical Theatre (LMT) is rolling out the red carpet for 2024 Directing proposals. Now is the time for your vision to take centre stage as our spectacular fall (October - November) production! Whether you're a seasoned pro or a rising star, we want YOU to dazzle us with your directorial prowess!

LMT  strives to produce diverse musical  programming and this year is no different. We encourage you to select a show that reflects stories and themes that resonate with you, or simply pieces that you think need to be on stage in Lethbridge.

Please note, we are prioritizing budget-conscious productions, with a preference for small-cast musicals.

Show proposals should include the following:

  • Director’s name and contact information 

  • Statement of intent (i.e. why you want to propose a show/be a director) 

  • Relevant Experience

  • Name of play(s) and synopsis - Please provide a first choice and alternate show title you would be interested in directing. 

  • Director’s statement of the overall themes and messages of the pieces 

  • Director’s statement of their productions’ overall concept and aesthetic 

  • Why do you think Lethbridge Musical Theatre should produce these shows?  

  • Tentative production plans (i.e. timelines for auditions and rehearsals, other important aspects; costumes, props, etc.) 

  • List of production team members.  We acknowledge a full production team may not be assembled at this early stage. If you have already identified team members, please list them and the role(s) they hope to fill.

  • Licensing body and a link to the show rights. Please note, Lethbridge Musical Theatre currently has the ability to license through Music Theatre International and Concord Theatricals. 

How to Apply:

  • Application Package: Prepare an application package that includes all the required components and any other items you believe would dazzle us!

  • Submission: Submit your director's call using this Google form or Email your application package to our treasurer, Kaela, by April 12. Please use the subject line: "LMT Director Application 2024."

  • Interview and Selection: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview to discuss their vision and approach. Final selections will be made shortly after.

Important Dates:

  • Application Submission Deadline: April 15, 2024

  • Final Selections Announced: April 28, 2024
